Refund rules
You can request a refund without having to justify your decision. Here we explain which payments qualify, the deadlines for requests and how a refund affects your plan or word pack.
Quick overview
For a plan, the deadline to request a refund is 14 days after the first payment of each billing interval. Renewals do not qualify. For each word pack, you have 14 days after purchase to request a refund, reduced proportionally for any words used.
A cancellation prevents the next payment. It does not repay an existing charge or count as a refund request. We only refund automatically when a second plan created by mistake results in a duplicate charge.
Plan charges
You can choose monthly, semester or yearly billing. One semester covers four months. You have 14 days after the first payment of each billing interval to request a refund. Later payments do not each start another refund window.
Requests made within this window need no explanation. We will not challenge your reason for requesting a refund.
Unless cancelled, your plan automatically renews when the paid period ends. Renewal charges do not count as first payments and cannot be refunded under these rules. Monthly billing never switches to yearly billing by itself.
Upgrades and interval changes
Your upgrade starts immediately. The price difference for the time remaining in your paid period is charged to your card.
An upgrade to a different billing interval, for example from monthly to yearly, starts a new interval with a first payment. The difference charged can be refunded on request within 14 days after that payment.
Keeping the same billing interval when upgrading does not create a first payment or a fresh refund window. That upgrade charge is not refundable. If you downgrade, the lower plan starts when your paid period ends, with no charge or refund for the change.
Extra word packs
Word packs are sold per tool. You pick the AI detector, the humanizer, the paraphraser or the summarizer, and the words work there and nowhere else. A free account can buy one too. The pack only starts to count once your plan's monthly words for that tool are gone, and it stays valid for 12 months from the day you buy it. The monthly words of a plan start fresh every billing month.
The deadline for requesting a word pack refund is 14 days after that pack was purchased. Each purchase has a separate window. A later purchase does not change an earlier pack's purchase date.
We deduct the value of used words on a pro rata basis. In other words, the share of the pack you have used reduces your refund by the same proportion.
When you need to request a refund
No refund starts automatically when you cancel, downgrade or find a tool unavailable. To receive a refund you qualify for under these rules, you must request it.
Charges for renewals are not refundable. Upgrading without changing your billing interval is also not refundable and does not count as a first payment or begin another refund window.
Account deletion does not start a refund. Only duplicate charges are refunded without a request.
Accidental duplicate payments
If a second plan gets opened by accident, for example in another browser tab, we count it as a duplicate charge. It is not treated as a separate purchase.
We automatically cancel that duplicate plan and refund its payment. No request is needed. This process is separate from refunds for plan payments and word packs, which you must request.
Requesting your refund
Send your request to support@textlume.com using the email address associated with your payment. State that address in the message too, and identify the payment you would like refunded.
Specify whether you are asking about a plan charge, an upgrade price difference or a word pack purchase. There is no need to give a reason.
Dave from our support team replies within 24 hours. That deadline covers our reply, not when the refund will reach your card.
Effects of a refund
A refund of the full card payment for your current paid period ends the plan at once. It does not run on to the end of that period.
Your plan remains active when a refund covers an earlier period, an upgrade price difference or only part of a payment.
When a word pack is refunded, we remove the words covered by the refund, up to the number still available in that pack.
Your saved data is not removed when you receive a refund. It remains saved until you delete it or your account is closed.
Where your refund goes
We return eligible plan charges, upgrade price differences and word pack payments to the card used for the purchase.
Our payment processor takes care of payments. We do not receive your card details on our servers.
Choosing cancellation
You can prevent your next charge by cancelling through the billing page at any time. Access to your plan continues for the rest of the period already paid for.
You can resume your plan before that period ends, restoring its previous renewal schedule. Simply cancelling neither requests a refund nor reverses the payment for your current period.
To seek a refund as well as prevent later charges, send us a request following the rules set out above.
Disputing a payment
Contact us first if you want a payment returned. Raising a payment dispute with your bank, known as a chargeback, pauses your plan.
Renewals stop while the dispute remains open. Your plan is restored if the dispute is resolved in its favour. Before opening a dispute, you can discuss the charge with us at support@textlume.com.
Legal rights
You keep all rights that the law applicable to you does not allow this policy to restrict.
