Rules for acceptable use
These rules govern your use of Textlume, including its tools, your account and the API. They describe which actions and submissions are prohibited and the consequences of breaking the rules. This policy forms part of our terms of service.
Purpose of these rules
Responsible use means treating others with respect, having the necessary rights to submitted content and observing limits that help keep the tools available for everyone. These rules explain those duties. We are a software company based in the United Arab Emirates and run the service.
The minimum age for using the service is 13. Until you reach the age of majority where you live, you also need a parent or guardian's agreement. These rules apply equally to free use and paid plans.
Your responsibility
You remain responsible for your use of the tools' outputs. Follow any requirements your school, employer or publisher sets for AI assistance, including when you must disclose it. The tools do not take over those obligations.
A detection result is an estimate. It is no evidence of how someone wrote a text. We cannot promise what another detector or an institution will conclude about your writing, and our result does not confirm that your work meets the rules you have to follow.
Decisions about people
Our detector assesses how text appears to our model and returns a range together with a confidence rating. The accuracy page explains its limitations and reports measured error rates.
Never base a decision about a person solely on a detector result, including decisions on grades, hiring, payment or discipline. Neither the result nor its confidence rating proves who produced the text or the method used to write it.
Prohibited uses
The following uses of the service are prohibited.
- Breaking any law or sending content that is unlawful.
- Sending material without the rights needed to submit it.
- Causing harm to another person.
- Attacking the service, overwhelming it with traffic or scraping it.
- Bypassing usage limits, including through multiple free accounts or changes of identity to gain extra free use.
- Sending someone else's personal data without the right to process it.
- Sending material that depicts minors sexually or encourages violence.
Usage limits
Stay within the limits and do not work around them. Using the tools for free takes no payment card. Each tool gives one free run a day up to a word cap, and the current caps are listed on the pricing page. The grammar checker and the word and character counters have no cap at all. The daily count starts again at midnight UTC.
Each paid plan includes a plan-specific monthly word allowance for AI detection. Word packs increase that allowance. To maintain availability for all users, we may restrict unusually high usage.
On the API, limits apply to the number of active keys, to requests per minute, to requests running at the same time and to monthly abuse. The API page lists each figure. When a request goes over one of them, it gets an error and nothing runs. Paying for a plan never lifts these limits.
Accounts and API access
An account may be used by only one person. Do not share, sell or publicly disclose account access or an API key. Sign-in options include email with a password and a sign-in service. Protect both your password and your email account, as access to them allows someone to sign in.
Only the Pro plan includes API access. Keep your API key confidential and use it only for yourself. All requests made with that key count towards your plan and draw from the website's word pools, with no separate API allowance. We retain keys solely as salted hashes.
Training restrictions
Outputs may not be used to develop or train a competing model or service. This prohibition covers results obtained from both the website tools and the API.
Text you provide is not used by us for model training.
Your submissions
You retain ownership of your text and the outputs created from it. Your permission for us to process that text extends only to providing the tool you requested. We neither sell it nor share it.
Ownership does not exempt your submissions from this policy. You need the rights to provide the material and to process any personal data about others within it. Do not submit unlawful material, material that depicts minors sexually or material that encourages violence.
Report an issue
Report suspected breaches of these rules by writing to support@textlume.com. You can use the same address for questions about the rules or difficulties using the service.
Dave from our support team will reply within 24 hours.
How we enforce rules
Breaking these rules may lead to account suspension. If we suspend your account, we will explain the reason. A serious breach or repeated breaches may lead to account closure.
Unusually high detection usage may also be restricted. Requests beyond API limits are rejected and return an error.
Connection to our terms
Our terms of service incorporate this policy. The law of the UAE governs those terms, with disputes decided by the courts of the UAE. Only the English version is binding. Translations are provided for convenience.
We publish changes to this policy on this page with the date they take effect, shown at the top of the page. Changes to the amount you pay take effect only with your agreement.
