Basic for a semester of papers
Basic gives you 10,000 humanizer words a month, and the paraphraser gets a pool of the same size. That covers a handful of essays or a stack of cover letters, with the detector to read each draft before you send it. Grammar checks and the word counter stay free next to it.

Do I need a card to start?
No. The Free plan on Textlume asks for no card, and the daily runs work without an account too. You only enter a card when you buy a paid plan or a word pack. There is no free trial of the paid plans, so nothing is charged until you pick one at checkout and pay for it.
What happens to words I don't use?
They expire. Your monthly words reset on the same date each month, the day of the month your plan started, and whatever is left over is gone at that point. Nothing carries over. Word packs work differently. Their words are spent only after your monthly words run out, and they stay valid for 12 months from your latest top-up for that tool.
How does semester billing work?
You pay once for 4 months at a lower price per month than monthly billing. The plan renews every 4 months until you cancel, and we email you a reminder before each renewal. Your word pools still reset every month, so you get a fresh allowance each month of the semester, not one large pool for the whole period.
How many words can I check for AI each month?
Basic includes 50,000 AI detector words a month, Plus 150,000 and Pro 300,000. That pool is separate from the humanizer and paraphraser pools, so checking a draft never eats into your rewriting words. If you run out before the month resets, a detector word pack tops it up.
Is the AI detector free to use?
Yes, within a daily limit. Textlume gives every visitor a free detector check each day, with the same reading a paid plan gets: a figure with its confidence rating and a mark on each sentence. The free check covers a shorter text. The grammar checker, word counter and character counter are free with no daily cap.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, on request. Email support from the address you paid with within 14 days of the first payment of a billing interval. Renewals are not refunded. An upgrade that changes the interval, say monthly to yearly, counts as a new first payment. Each word pack has its own 14-day window, minus the words you have used. Dave replies within 24 hours.
How do I cancel?
Open your billing page and press cancel. It takes one click, and you get a confirmation email. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you already paid for, then the account moves to Free. Any word packs you bought keep their own validity, so those words stay usable after the plan ends.
Do you count the words I paste or the words I get back?
The words you send in. A rewrite that comes back longer than your original costs nothing extra, and a summary is counted by the length of the text you summarized, not by the summary. On the Free plan, a run that fails does not use up your run for the day.
Can I change plans or billing interval later?
Yes. An upgrade starts right away, and you pay the prorated difference for the rest of the current period. A downgrade or a switch to another interval takes effect when the current period ends, so you keep what you paid for until then. You can make either change from your billing page.
How do I pay, and in which currency?
By card, for plans and word packs alike. Prices are in US dollars, and every country pays the same list price. You get a receipt by email after each payment, and your account keeps the invoices and a billing history. We don't take other payment methods.
Does a free account get more than a visitor?
Not in words. Signed-out visitors and free accounts have the same daily limits. An account adds a history of your runs, which you can delete or switch off at any time, and it is the place to buy a word pack or upgrade later.
Which tools stay free with no daily limit?
The grammar checker, the word counter and the character counter. Grammar, spelling and punctuation checks run on every plan without a cap, signed in or not. The counters work in your browser and don't need an account. Clarity suggestions in the grammar checker are the paid part.
When does the plagiarism checker open?
It is in preview and not open for checks yet. The plan cards list the monthly words it will come with on each paid plan, marked as coming soon. Until it opens, none of your plan's words go toward it. It will not be part of the Free plan.
