Our cookie policy
Find out how Textlume uses cookies and browser storage, why we use them, how long they remain and what deleting or blocking them means for you. We are a software company based in the United Arab Emirates and run the site. Our privacy policy covers how we handle other data.
Storage in your browser
To remember your scroll position in the editor, we save editor-offset in tab storage. It remains available while that tab is open and is removed when the tab closes.
Detector reports you save stay in your browser for 24 hours. We never store them on our servers. A report older than 24 hours is hidden and gets deleted the next time you open any page of the site.
Browser storage keeps your support conversation open when you move to another page. Closing the tab does not clear it. The conversation stays until you remove it in your browser.
Each type of storage has its own lifespan: your editor position lasts for the open tab, detector reports expire after their time limit, and support chat data remains until you clear it.
Counting free usage
We apply free usage limits using a keyed hash of your IP address together with your browser's cookie identifier, recorded for each tool and UTC day. Your daily allowance resets at midnight UTC. Counts cover today and yesterday only. The next count removes records for earlier days.
These counts are pseudonymised, so they are not anonymous. We count with the browser identifier and the keyed hash of your IP address together, never with the identifier alone.
The same approach applies to limits per minute. Entries cover the current minute and the previous minute. On the next request, we remove entries from earlier minutes.
Removing anon_id deletes your browser's identifier but leaves the IP hash used for usage counting in place. Your free limits therefore do not reset when you delete this cookie.
No ad or tracking cookies
We do not set cookies for advertising or tracking. Our free-limit and sign-in cookies are used for those specific tasks, not to serve ads.
If analytics is enabled, its cookies help us measure visits and make site improvements. They are not used for advertising. The analytics details on this page describe this use separately.
Policy updates
We post any updated policy on this page and display its date at the top.

When analytics is enabled
With analytics enabled, every visitor receives the _ga and _ga_<ID> cookies without a consent step. These cookies distinguish visits so that each visit is counted once.
The analytics service receives the address of the page you visit, browser and device information, and a rough location derived from your IP address. We use this information to measure visits and improve the site, not for advertising.
