QuillBot alternative
QuillBot bundles a paraphraser, grammar checker, plagiarism checker, AI detector, humanizer and summarizer into one Premium plan, with apps for most places you write. Textlume centres on reading a text for AI and reworking it, with stated word limits for each tool. This page sets the two side by side.
Rework a text with our paraphraser
Paste a text of your own and run it right here, without leaving this page. It uses the same free daily run as the tool itself.

The short answer
Choose QuillBot if paraphrasing is most of your work and you want it in Word, your browser and on your phone. Choose Textlume if AI detection is the main job and you want to see which sentences drive the score, with a range and a confidence rating, before you rewrite anything. We have not tested QuillBot's detector, so nothing here compares accuracy.
Where the two really differ
- The main job. QuillBot's Premium covers a paraphraser, grammar, plagiarism, AI detection, a humanizer, summaries and more. Textlume is built around the AI detector, with rewriting tools next to it.
- Where you write. QuillBot has browser extensions, desktop and phone apps and a Word add-in. Textlume runs in the browser and takes uploads from Word and PDF files.
- Word limits. QuillBot's plan page says usage limits apply and may vary by surface. Textlume states each tool's monthly words, for example 50,000 detector words a month on Basic.
- Detection figures. QuillBot's plan page gives no accuracy figure for its detector, and we have not tested it. Textlume publishes held-out counts per language on its accuracy page.

How Textlume works
- The detector shows an overall score with a range, a confidence rating and a mark on every sentence.
- Detector words are a pool of their own, 50,000 a month on Basic and up to 10,000 words in a single check.
- The humanizer and the paraphraser each have their own monthly words, so one never eats into the other.
- The paraphraser lets you freeze words that must not change, and it keeps names and quotes as they are.
- Grammar checks are free on every plan, signed in or not.
- Our accuracy page lists how often human texts were flagged, per language, in a held-out test.

Questions people ask before choosing
ContactIs QuillBot's AI detector accurate?
QuillBot's plan page lists the AI detector, limited on Free and in full on Premium, but gives no accuracy figure, and we have not tested it. So we make no claim either way. Any detector gives a probability. A score you can check sentence by sentence, with a range, tells you more than a single number.
How much does QuillBot Premium cost?
The plan page we read on 31 October 2026 lists Premium at $4.17 USD a month, billed annually. It did not show the month-to-month price. Textlume Basic costs 6.99 USD a month billed yearly or 9.99 USD month to month.
What does QuillBot's free plan include?
Paraphrasing up to 100 words in the Standard and Fluency modes, basic grammar fixes, humanizing up to 100 words with limited use, basic summaries up to 1,200 words and limited access to the AI detector.
Does QuillBot have a humanizer?
Yes. It is limited to 100 words with limited use on Free and open in full on Premium. The Textlume humanizer keeps names, numbers and quotes as they are and makes no promise that the result passes any detector.
How many languages does QuillBot work in?
Its plan page lists paraphrasing in 23 languages, grammar correction in 6 and translation into more than 40. The Textlume detector is calibrated for 13 text languages and marks any other language as not calibrated.
Does QuillBot check for plagiarism?
Yes, on Premium, with 25,000 words a month. The Textlume plagiarism check is coming soon and not live yet. It will search the open web on paid plans.
Can I use QuillBot inside Word or my browser?
Yes. QuillBot lists extensions for Chrome, Edge and Safari, apps for Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and a Word add-in. Textlume runs in the browser, and you can upload Word, PDF and text files into any tool.
Is there a QuillBot alternative with a free AI detector?
Textlume gives a free check of 250 words, 1 time a day, with no account and no card. The result shows a score with a range, a confidence rating and a mark on every sentence.
Who owns QuillBot?
QuillBot describes itself as a Learneo, Inc. business.
